The Austrian Bar (ÖRAK) is the umbrella organisation of Austria’s nine regional bar associations. It represents the interests of Austrian lawyers at the national level and coordinates matters that extend beyond the remit of an individual bar association.
Austria’s nine regional bar associations are autonomous self-governing bodies representing lawyers and trainee lawyers in the respective federal provinces. They perform the statutory responsibilities of professional self-governance and serve as the primary point of contact for their members.
Lawyers are independent advisers and representatives in all legal matters. They safeguard the rights and interests of their clients and, in doing so, make an important contribution to upholding the rule of law.
