In 2025, 20,230 lawyers were appointed under the system of legal aid as free lawyers in Austria. Of these:
- 15,152 in criminal cases
- 4,665 in civil cases
- 110 before the Constitutional Court of Austria
- 303 before the Supreme Administrative Court
- 35 before the Provincial Administrative Courts
- 11 before the Federal Administrative Court and
- 2 before the Federal Finance Court.
In 2025, the value of services rendered in legal aid was over € 49 million.
